Award Winning Studio
We can call Potton Hall an ‘award winning’ studio – last year, two of the winners at the BBC Music Magazine Awards were recorded at the venue – Jean-Efflam Bavouzet (Chandos) and the Dante String Quartet (Hyperion).  The Dante CD was produced by Jeremy!
This year, Jeremy had another winner at the BBC Music Magazine Awards – only two weeks ago!  This time for a cd he produced as part of the Wigmore Live series (cds recorded live at the prestigious Wigmore Hall in London) – the winning cd was of the Elias String Quartet.  Jeremy has produced all of their commercial cds here at Potton Hall as well as the Wigmore one.

The studio’s reputation is really unrivalled internationally for recording chamber music and musicians at the top of the classical music profession travel from all over the world to record their cds at Potton Hall. Nearly all the major classical labels use Potton Hall for their recordings: EMI, Decca, Harmonia Mundi, BIS, Sony, Hyperion, Chandos etc.
Some of the musicians who have recorded at Potton Hall are:  Vladimir Ashkenazy, Goldner String Quartet (who come from Sydney!), Jean-Efflam Bavouzet (France), Belcea String Quartett, Brodsky Quartet, Liz Watts, Kate Royal, Sarah Connolly, Ian Bostridge.
People come to the studio for the acoustics and ambience.  The space has an amazing ‘feel’ and as soon as people walk in, they’re usually bowled over by it!  They also like the location and the surrounding area.  Unlike a lot of recording studios, the silence is not ‘manufactured’ at Potton Hall, it is natural.  Also, you are not met by the hustle and bustle of the outside world when you open the doors – you are met by nature and quiet beauty.  Many of the musicians say that they feel inspired by the surroundings at Potton Hall and in their breaks and evenings they love walking in the forest, and visiting local beaches.  We also provide year-round business for local hotels pubs and restaurants – musicians like to eat and drink well!!
